Stratford Race Results

Stratford in Warwickshire is one of the most popular summer jumping tracks with 17 meetings from mid-March through to early November. The first recorded races at Stratford were held on Shottery Meadow in 1718, and the racecourse dates its opening to 1755. David Garrick’s Shakespeare Jubilee of 1769 brought a Jubilee Cup to the races, though it lapsed about nine years later. The Stratford Foxhunters’ Champion Chase towards the end of May is regarded as the grand finale of the Hunter Chase season.

July brings two of the most popular fixtures of the summer, Family Day and Ladies’ Day. Famous names to have won at Stratford include Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Silver Buck and Grand National winners Lottery and Don’t Push It.

Racecourse Guide

Stratford is a sharp, left handed track which favours horses that like to race up with the pace. The fences are not regarded as difficult and they usually go a good pace here so slick jumping is a definite advantage. There is only a short run-in of about 200 yards so jockeys tend to kick for home quite early.

Because of the nature of the track as a summer jumping venue, you find horses that have won on the flat often do well over hurdles here. It is certainly more suited to speed horses than late-maturing National Hunt-bred horses.

Dining, Hospitality & Facilities

Stratford Racecourse offers a high quality range of dining options including entrance to the main enclosure, car parking, racecard and a welcoming glass of prosecco for full hospitality packages. You can book a reserved table in the glass-fronted Gallery Restaurant, which serves a four-course lunch or dinner and includes Main Enclosure admission, while private boxes for 8 to 20 guests offer four-course dining or afternoon tea. Alternatively, you can reserve your own private box with a special drinks package. The summer racedays are very popular with families who are welcome to picnic in the centre of the racecourse. Dogs are allowed in the Centre Course enclosure if they are kept on a lead at all times; only guide dogs are permitted in the Main Enclosure. There are also food and drink outlets around the course including a covered seating area with mobile catering units.

Stratford-on-Avon Railway Station is on the Birmingham Moor Street Line. It is just a five minute taxi ride or twenty minute walk from the racecourse.

Tickets

You can book your Stratford admission tickets online. Centre course tickets take you right into the heart of the action and are very popular with families. The Main enclosure provides access to all public areas, including multiple bars and refreshment outlets; the Gallery Restaurant is a pre-booked hospitality package. Group discounts start at 12 tickets (20% off, with free tickets added for groups of 20 or more) and must be booked in advance, and under-18s go free with an adult.
