Tramore Race Results
Tramore in County Waterford hosts twelve meetings per year with a mixture of flat and jumps racing. The highlight is the four-day August Festival which usually consists of one afternoon and three evening meetings. Day 3 is the only flat racing card at the festival which is also the meeting’s Style Evening.
The Savills New Year Chase on New Year’s Day has been made famous by Al Boum Photo who won the race for four successive seasons. He ended the long wait for Trainer Willie Mullins to land his first Cheltenham Gold Cup after winning here in 2019. He completed the same double in 2020 but finished third at Cheltenham after his third win here in 2021. A record fourth Savills Chase win in 2022 proved to be the last of his career. He retired with earnings in excess of £1 million.

Racecourse Guide
Tramore is on the beautiful east coast of Ireland so it is easy to see why the August Festival is so popular with locals and holidaymakers alike. Tramore is a sharp, undulating right hand track of about seven and a half furlongs. The home straight is not much more than a furlong but is uphill. The course most definitely favours well-balanced nippy performers and it is very difficult to make up ground unless the going is soft.
There are five fences to a circuit on the chase course with a long downhill run to the second last. With only one fence to negotiate in the straight and a run-in of just 160 yards, the winner rarely comes from far off the pace.
Dining, Hospitality & Facilities
Tramore offers a wide range of hospitality options in partnership with the popular local restaurant Vee Bistro. The on-site restaurant opens two hours before the first race with self-service meals, teas, coffees and pastries. Other options include an on-course fish and chip shop, the Inside Track Bar, the Tote Bar and the Graun Hill Suite. You can reserve a table for the day at the latter with a three course meal and stunning views across the racecourse to Tramore Beach.
The nearest train station to Tramore is at Waterford with regular services from Dublin (Heuston) and a 30-minute bus or taxi ride to the racecourse.
Tickets
You can book your Tramore admission tickets online as well as your annual membership badges. Early Bird admission tickets are available with discounts for seniors and students. Membership badges include race day entry and racecard for all 12 fixtures with reciprocal days at Irish and UK racecourses.
The Effect of the Draw
Starting stalls were used at Tramore for the first time in many years in 2022. Although there is little statistical evidence, a low draw must be considered an advantage with the course’s tight turns and short home straight.
