Warwick — Results (03 June 2026)

Yesterday’s meeting at Warwick produced a string of clear-cut wins on a drying surface. Louis Veron made light work of the EHB Residential Maiden Hurdle, cruising clear under Harry Skelton, while Luna Run took the big-field Insight Surveyors Handicap Hurdle after asserting from 4 out. Kentucky River battled on to hold off Dream’s Ka in the 19:30 handicap, Knightsbridge produced a late surge to win the Rainier Developments Chase, Beorma dominated the mares’ handicap and Theonlywayiswessex finished the card with an authoritative victory in the nightcap. There were a few non-runners: Walkinthecotswolds, Thickthorn Tom and Blackwater Lilly were withdrawn prior to their races.

Notes and key observations

Dan Skelton-trained runners were prominent on the card, with Louis Veron and Beorma both successful under Harry Skelton. Jonjo O’Neill Jr delivered a decisive finish on Knightsbridge in the feature chase. Front-running or prominent tactics paid dividends on the good ground, with several winners travelling strongly from the home turn. A small number of runners were withdrawn before their races (Walkinthecotswolds, Thickthorn Tom, Blackwater Lilly) for fitness/ground-related reasons.

Warwick Race Results

Warwick has staged only National Hunt racing since 2014 and currently hosts 19 fixtures between September and May. The big races on the Warwick calendar are the Kingmaker Novices’ Chase and the Warwick Classic Chase. The Kingmaker Novices’ Chase takes place in February and is a significant trial for the Arkle Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. Edwardstone won both races in 2022 for Trainer Alan King and jockey Tom Cannon.

The Classic Chase is a Grade 3 handicap over an extended three miles and five furlongs in January. It is the natural successor to the original Warwick National Chase and is a recognised trial for the Grand National at Aintree. One For Arthur won both races for Scottish trainer Lucinda Russell in 2017. The supporting card features the Grade 2 Leamington Novices’ Hurdle which was previously won by Inglis Drever and The New One.

GG provides detailed Warwick race results as quickly as possible. The winner, placed horses and SP returns are published as soon as the weigh in is confirmed. This is updated with the complete finishing order and Tote returns which can be accessed by clicking on each race title.

Racecourse Guide

Warwick Racecourse is a left-handed and mostly flat circuit of just under 1m 6f. There is a fairly steep incline after the winning line which descends into the long back straight. There is a short run-in of just over a furlong after the final obstacle.

The course is tighter than it appears and tends to favour horses that like to race up with the pace. Ex flat racers do particularly well on the hurdles track. On the chase course, there are five fences in quick succession in the back straight but the fences are among the easiest to jump in the country.

Dining, Hospitality & Facilities

There are several hospitality packages on offer at Warwick, all offering a lavish dining experience with excellent views of the race track. The Premier Hospitality package includes a three-course a la carte meal, full afternoon tea and a private balcony overlooking the winning line. Packages are available at the 1707 Restaurant, Paddock Pavilion Restaurant and the Kingmaker Suite.

Private Boxes are available to hire for first class hospitality, perfect for entertaining clients, colleagues or celebrating a special day. These range from the Classic or Premier to the luxurious VIP experience. Corporate Hospitality packages are offered at the 1707 Restaurant with something to suit every need and budget.

The closest railway stations are Warwick or Warwick Parkway and both are only a short walk or taxi ride from the racecourse.

The Effect of the Draw

There is not much of a draw bias on fast ground but when the going is very soft high numbers are favoured. This is because the ground on the inside rail gets chewed up and the outside rail rides faster. Concentrate on the top six stalls on soft and heavy ground.
