Windsor Racecourse — Yesterday’s summary (Good)
Windsor served up a competitive card on testing Good (Good to firm in places; watered; 6.6) ground. Highlights included Charlie Appleby’s Maho Bay taking the Weatherbys Global Stallions App Winter Hill Stakes (Group 3) under William Buick, and John & Thady Gosden’s heavily-backed Without Prejudice making all in the novice fillies’ event. Marco Ghiani partnered two winners on the day — Polyxena and Luzon Heights — while Stuart Williams trained a pair of successes with Rebel Path and Polyxena. There were a handful of non-runners and vet/self certificates reported (including Good Earth, Lahina Bay, Astrid, Nonrem, Dream On Kent and Call Time), but no races were abandoned.
Key moments
Maho Bay asserted himself in the feature, making all and keeping on well under Buick to beat long-priced Venetian Prince who ran a career-best to finish second. Without Prejudice (1/4) lived up to favouritism, pulling clear late in the novice for a comfortable success. In the nursery, Wopbopaloomop showed determination to hold on after leading early, while Roman Spring rounded off the card by making all in the concluding handicap.

Racecourse Guide
Set in 165 acres of beautiful Berkshire countryside and located on the banks of the River Thames, Windsor is best known for its lively summer evening fixtures that take place on thirteen consecutive Mondays. Windsor is one of only two UK courses with a figure-of-eight circuit and therefore it tends to play into the hands of the well-balanced, nimble individual. The course is becoming known for its quality of maiden race and indeed for a consistently vibrant handicapping scene.
Dining, Hospitality & Facilities
For a finer, premium experience there are a trio of restaurant options available at Windsor – The Royal Club, The Riverbank and the 1866 Restaurant.
For those wishing to have a more private dining experience, there is the option of the Private Boxes. All boxes offer unrivalled views, a variety of food packages, hospitality admission and access to all public areas around the racecourse.
Tickets
There are three ticket options available at Doncaster racecourse:
- Silver Ring Enclosure. The only enclosure where you are able to bring your own picnic. Allows access to the centre of the course so you can be in the heart of the action.
- Grandstand Enclosure. Offers excellent views of the course and winning post, along with seating areas and a choice of eateries.
- Heidsieck Club Enclosure. Offers a prime location right next to the winning post, along with a wide choice of bars and restaurants.

The Effect of the Draw
High numbers are best in sprints when the ground is good or faster, but it’s the opposite on soft and heavy ground, when low numbers have a clear edge. Good to soft ground cancels out biases. Concentrate on the bottom seven stalls in soft and heavy ground sprints, cross out any runner drawn in single figures in fast-ground sprints with more than eighteen runners.
