Worcester Race Results

Worcester is a National Hunt racecourse which currently stages 21 meetings from April through to late October/early November. Worcester was one of the pioneers of summer jump racing and highlights include the popular Ladies Day in June along with two Family Fun Days in June and September.

The venue also hosts summer evening racing and the Fixed Brush Series Final in late September. The series was introduced for trainers with potential chasers. The Valerie Lewis Memorial Chase in June honours the late co-owner of three times Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Best Mate (2002-2004). She and her husband Jim lived in Worcester and the horse had a great local following.

GG publish the winner, placed horses and SP returns for all Worcester race results as soon as the weigh in has been announced. This is later updated with the complete finishing order and Tote returns which can be accessed by clicking on each race title.

Racecourse Guide

Worcester racecourse is situated by the east bank of the River Severn and has suffered badly from flooding in the past. The severe floods in 2007 led to the abandonment of all meetings here after the end of June. It is now established as a popular track for summer jumping and regularly provides competitive racing.

Worcester is one of the oldest racecourses in the country with horse racing first staged here in 1718. Flat racing was held here until 1966 with the likes of Fred Archer, Sir Gordon Richards and Lester Piggott all having ridden at the track. Worcester actually staged the first sponsored steeplechase with the Worcester Royal Porcelain Chase in 1951.

It is a flat, left handed oval course of about 13 furlongs with nine fences to be jumped on each circuit. There are four fences in the long home straight but it is widely considered one of the easiest jumping courses in the country. Trainers love running their promising novices here to gain valuable experience. Notable past winners at Worcester include Morley Street and Iris’s Gift, the winners of the 1991 Champion Hurdle and 2004 Stayers’ Hurdle respectively.

Dining, Hospitality & Facilities

Worcester racecourse is also a venue for conferences and events and offers an exceptional range of packages across their hospitality suites. The racecourse is in an idyllic setting with views of the city, the river and right across the race track.

Worcester provides the very best of locally sourced, seasonal fine dining in their private facilities. These include the Severn Restaurant on the second floor of the Grandstand with table seating available for parties from 2 to 12. Multiple adjacent tables can be booked for larger parties. The three exclusive private boxes come with a personal host and delicious buffet as well as access to all public areas. There are also marquee packages available on selected race days.

Worcester Foregate Street Station is just ten minutes’ walk from the racecourse. Worcester Shrubhill Station is a little further afield with a twenty minute walk or short taxi ride to the track.
