The St Leger odds are beginning to formulate with plenty of three-year-old colts and fillies staking their claims. Here is how they bet in advance of the 2025 St Leger.

Betting Strategies for the St Leger
You do not just have to place a bet on the horse you believe will win the St Leger. There are multiple different ways to bet on the race when the 2024 St Leger odds are more clearly sorted out.
Each Way
Finding a horse at bigger odds to place, i.e. finish in the first three positions, can feel just as fulfilling as finding a winner at shorter odds. Sometimes, you can get extra place offers which ensure you can get a payout down to fourth or even fifth if there are a lot of runners in the 2024 St Leger.
Draw Biases
The St Leger is run over 1m6f, so there is plenty of time for a horse to overcome any draw. Galileo Chrome emerged from stall 12 in 2020, the widest draw of all, so no stall is too inconvenient. Nevertheless, if your horse is one which likes to race prominently, a draw closer to the rail can be beneficial.
Without the Favourite
In 2019 and 2021, the St Leger was won by an odds-on favourite. However, those betting without the favourite would have won on runner-ups Sir Ron Priestley and Mojo Star respectively. When there is a strong favourite who looks the likeliest winner, finding the closest challenger can prove just as successful a bet.
