Opera BalloWho are the Top Three Favourites to Win this Year’s Sussex Stakes?
2000 Guineas hero Bow Echo cemented his place as the leading miler in the three-year-old division with victory in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot. George Boughey’s star got the better of Aidan O’Brien’s Gstaad in both of those races, but the Ballydoyle raider is well fancied for the 2026 Sussex Stakes. Opera Ballo and Ten Bob Tony are two older horses that take their chance in what is set to be an epic renewal of the Group 1 prize.
Sussex Stakes Horse Entries & Selections
We will find out the final list of runners for the 2026 Sussex Stakes two days before the race, but the entries have already been released for the iconic Group 1 and it sees some of the premier three-year-old milers and some experienced campaigners set to take their chance in the race.
Which Trainers Have Historically Had the Most Success in the Sussex Stakes?
One trainer stands top of the history books as the legendary Sir Henry Cecil has trained the winner of the Sussex Stakes on seven separate occasions. He trained his first winner of the race back in 1975 when Bolkonski claimed victory in the event, while his most memorable winner of the event was Frankel, who claimed victory in the race in 2011 and again in 2012.
