Huntingdon Racecourse — Results for 6 October 2026
Yesterday at Huntingdon produced a competitive afternoon on good ground, with a couple of cosy favourite wins and a notable long-shot success to close the card. Cinnodin edged out Indian Sunbird in a tactical finish in the opening handicap hurdle, Broadway Honey justified market favouritism in the novices’ chase, and Dancing Dame landed the mares’ maiden hurdle after a strong late move. In the mid‑afternoon handicap hurdle Inca powered clear for an authoritative victory, while Start Again held on in a tight finish over Delpotro in the handicap chase. The card was rounded off by Albatross The Ace, who surged late to upset the odds at 28/1 and deny the short-priced Flow River Flow. There were a small number of non-runners and a single unseat (Hudson) during the day, but no races were abandoned.
Key notes
Non-runners: Hillsin and Warner’s Cross declared non-runners in the 15:41; My Friend Sean declared non-runner in the 16:16. Hudson (14:31) was unseated after a bad mistake 2 out. Favourite winners included Broadway Honey (4/5) and Dancing Dame (4/5), while Albatross The Ace (28/1) provided the day’s biggest surprise when rallying late to take the juvenile NH-flat race.

Further detail
Standout takeaway: a tidy card for connections of favourites Broadway Honey and Dancing Dame, but the finishing shock from Albatross The Ace ensured punters had something to talk about after the last. The racecourse handled the good ground well and there were no abandoned events to report.

Huntingdon Race Results
Huntingdon is a National Hunt track in Cambridgeshire which hosts 18 meetings from October through to May. The big Huntingdon races are the Grade 2 Peterborough Chase and the Listed Sidney Banks Memorial Novices’ Hurdle.
The Peterborough Chase is over an extended two and a half miles and has consistently attracted some of the top chasers in training. In 1991 Sabin Du Loir famously defeated Cheltenham Gold Cup winners Norton’s Coin (1990) and Desert Orchid (1989). Edredon Bleu won the Peterborough Chase on a record four occasions between 1998 and 2001 while three times Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Best Mate was successful in 2002. Other notable winners include Wayward Lad (1983) and One Man (1997).
The Sidney Banks Memorial Novices’ Hurdle takes place in February and is a significant Cheltenham trial. Famous winners include French Holly (1998) and Shishkin (2020). Huntingdon also stages regular Family fun days, a Ladies evening in May, a winter Ladies Day in November and a traditional Boxing Day meeting.
GG publish Huntingdon race results within moments of the weigh in being confirmed. The winner, placed horses and SP returns are displayed as quickly as possible on Today’s Results & Racecards page. This is later updated with the complete finishing order and Tote returns which can be accessed by clicking on each race title.
Racecourse Guide
A tight, right-handed track, Huntingdon undoubtedly favours those horses that have the ability to lie handy. It has a circuit of about a mile and a half with nine fences to be jumped on each circuit. Former flat-racers do well here, particularly on faster ground. The Open Ditch directly in front of the stands provides a real spectacle for racegoers.
Huntingdon is one of the flattest tracks in the country which makes it an ideal introduction for a promising novice. Despite being a sharp track, trainers are not shy of running their best National Hunt bred horses here. The highlight of the season is the Peterborough Chase in November and there are many excellent meetings per year. It is often an early season target for horses likely to run in the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham and is also a stepping stone to the King George VI Chase at Kempton Park on Boxing Day.
