Juddmonte International Stakes Runners & Riders

The 2024 Juddmonte International Stakes will take place at York racecourse during the Ebor Festival in August. We take a look at all the possible runners and riders for the Group 1 contest that is run over a distance of 1m 2f 56y.

Here are this year’s declarations for the race:

Who are the Top Three Favourites to Win this Year’s Juddmonte International Stakes?

We take a look at the some of the leading favourites for the 2024 Juddmonte International Stakes, which is set to attract a strong field at York.

City Of Troy

Imperious as a juvenile, City Of Troy failed to build on his unbeaten two-year-old campaign in his first run of the season, as he failed to land a blow in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket. However, Aidan O’Brien’s superstar bounced back from that first Classic defeat by storming to victory in the Derby at Epsom, as he sauntered clear of Ambiente Friendly.

Sent to Sandown Park for the Coral-Eclipse Stakes next, he failed to emulate that sumptuous Epsom run, but he was still good enough to land a second Group 1 of the season and he’s set to head to York for the Juddmonte International Stakes, where he’s likely to be a warm order in the betting.

Auguste Rodin

Aidan O’Brien often saddles his premier middle distance performers in this race and Auguste Rodin could be another for the Ballydoyle team heading to the Knavesmire for the Juddmonte International Stakes. A fine winner of the 2022 Derby at Epsom, the four-year-old has often struggled to emulate that display, but is a class act on his day.

Second at the Curragh on his first start this season, he bounced back to form with an authoritative win in the Group 1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot in June and he’s looking to follow that success up here.

Economics

Having won a Newbury maiden impressive on his second start, Economics was then sent to York’s Dante Stakes by William Haggas, where he produced one of the finest performances of the season. Scooting six lengths clear of Ancient Wisdom that day, the Night Of Thunder colt was then touted as a leading Derby contender, but the Haggas team opted not to supplement him for the Epsom Classic.

Not seen since that win in May, he’s one that will relish a return to the Knavesmire and while he lacks some of the experience of some of his rivals he’s shown he’s a real top notch colt.

Juddmonte International Stakes Horse Entries & Selections

We will have a list of all the runners for the Juddmonte International Stakes available here, as soon as the final field is out for the 2024 renewal, which is one of the highlights of the Ebor Festival at York racecourse.

Which Trainers Have Historically Had the Most Success in the Juddmonte International Stakes?

One of the big targets for middle distance horses, it’s unsurprising that two of the biggest names in Flat racing dominate the standings for most winners in the Juddmonte International Stakes. The legendary pairing of Sir Michael Stoute and Aidan O’Brien have both saddled six winners of the event with the former landing the prize with the likes of Ezzoud and Singspiel, while the Ballydoyle team won it with Giant’s Causeway and Rip Van Winkle.
