midfield, headway 3 out, kept on and went modest fourth run-in, never near to challenge (jockey said, regarding running and riding, that his mount can be a very difficult ride and he unseated rider at start on his first run; he added that he behaved better in his last run but was still mindful of his temperament throughout the race; he further added he jumped well today but lost ground at 3rd last so he gave his mount time to recover which is why he stayed on well in closing stages; trainer outlined the difficulties associated with his charge and expressed his satisfaction with ride; raceday stewards also received a report from vet who reported gelding to be post race normal)

didn't always jump with fluency, midfield, some headway after 3 out, jumped slightly right 2 out, never dangerous (jockey said gelding jumped raw, lost his position early and just stayed on past tired horses)

Westerner gelding is a third foal; half-brother to winners Mrs Milner (useful 2m-3m hurdle) and Backintheroom (2m hurdle, including a C&D maiden); dam fourth in bumpers, closely related to 2m4f chase winner Miss Yeats, half-sister to useful winner Ramillies; nicely-bred debutant and trainer can ready one; worth a market check.
