Which Trainers Have Historically Had the Most Success in the Epsom Oaks?

You have to go all the way back to the 1800s for the most successful trainer in the Oaks as Robert Robson trained 13 winners between 1802 and 1825, while in the same era Frank Buckle rode the winner on nine separate occasions.

In more recent times the legendary Sir Henry Cecil trained the winner of the Oaks eight times with the likes of Oh So Sharp (1985) and Light Shift (2007) two of his big named winners, while Aidan O’Brien eclipsed Cecil’s number when he trained his tenth winner in the shape of Tuesday in the 2022 renewal.

It’s a race that will only see the best do battle and all the leading trainers will unleash their star fillies and look to etch their name on the illustrious roll of honour.
