Cheltenham Gold Cup Odds 2024

The Cheltenham Gold Cup is the pinnacle of jumps racing in Britain and Ireland and is the biggest race of Festival week. Last year’s winner Galopin Des Champs has been in sumptuous form as he attempts to win three in a row, and become the first horse since Best Mate in 2004 to do so.

Galopin Des Champs has been the favourite for this race ever since winning for the second time 12 months ago despite defeats in between at Punchestown. However, he is back on the winning trail this season and will be extremely hard to beat if his stamina holds out.

Cheltenham Gold Cup Odds and Entries 2024

This looks like an exciting renewal of the blue riband event in jumps racing, with plenty of Grade 1 winning form being brought into the race.  Galopin Des Champs was magnificent when winning the race in 2023 and the Willie Mullins-trained star is a clear favourite to retain his crown and is the one to beat. Martin Brassil’s Fastorslow beat Galopin Des Champs in the Punchestown Gold Cup last season and again at the start of this season and last year’s Ultima third is a well fancied contender.

Gerri Colombe was beaten by The Real Whacker in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase last season and the former is well fancied to reverse that form here and is a relatively short price, while last year’s Gold Cup runner-up Bravemansgame is one of the leading home challengers alongside Shishkin and L’Homme Presse, who both feature high in the betting.

Betting on the Cheltenham Gold Cup

The Cheltenham Gold Cup is the ultimate prize in steeplechasing and provides the climax of the Cheltenham Festival meeting. The roll of honour includes jumping legends Golden Miller, Arkle, Best Mate and Kauto Star. Al Boum Photo (2019, 2020) ended the long wait for leading Irish Trainer Willie Mullins to claim the most coveted race in National Hunt racing. Henry De Bromhead had the first two in successive renewals in 2021 and 2022 before Willie Mullins claimed his third Gold Cup courtesy of Galopin Des Champs a year ago.

The famous uphill finish has found out many top chasers in Britain and Ireland over the years. The Cheltenham Gold Cup betting 2024 has Galopin Des Champs as clear favourite, and the favourite has won six of the last twelve Gold Cups. The longest-priced winner during that period was 20-1 chance Lord Windermere in 2014.

The Irish Gold Cup and the Savills Chase at Leopardstown have been the best guide for a bet on the Cheltenham Gold Cup in recent years. The Brown Advisory Chase also has a good record of producing Gold Cup winners. Horses aged seven and eight have won nine of the last ten renewals.

Gold Cup News

All the talk going into the biggest race of the week has been about Galopin Des Champs. He has won his last two races at Leopardstown in powerful fashion, kicking clear of his two previous main market rivals in Gerri Colombe and Fastorslow. Both are still towards the top of the betting, with the latter a clear second favourite, but he now appears to have his work cut out to topple the favourite.
