Triumph Hurdle Odds 2024

The four-year-old hurdlers open Gold Cup day in the Triumph Hurdle over 2 miles. Irish trainers have won three of the last four runnings, with Willie Mullins winning three of the previous four.

Lossiemouth was a ready winner of the race a year ago and is well on course for a second successive Cheltenham Festival victory in this season’s Mares’ Hurdle.

Latest Triumph Hurdle Odds

The Triumph Hurdle is warming up to be a very intriguing race, though a clear favourite is the Nicky Henderson-trained Sir Gino, who stormed to victory in the Triumph Hurdle trial at Cheltenham on Festival Trials Day and that Seven Barrows inmate looks the one to beat.

Majborough could be one of the leading rivals to that contender and he shaped with real promise last time out at Leopardstown’s Dublin Racing Festival and he could fly the flag for the Willie Mullins team, while the likes of Kargese, Storm Heart and Salver add more depth to the betting.

Triumph Hurdle Odds and Entries 2024

Though we do not have accurate odds given the number of entries at this stage, we know there are plenty of horses already being talked of as Triumph Hurdle candidates.

Sir Gino is the strong favourite for Nicky Henderson after a fantastic victory in the Grade 2 Triumph Hurdle Trial in January. He easily beat the previous favourite for the race in Burdett Road, while the Irish challenge looks evenly split between the likes of Kargese, Majborough and Salvator Mundi.

Betting on the Triumph Hurdle

The Triumph Hurdle is the championship race for four-year-olds at the Cheltenham Festival. Irish-trained horses had not won the Triumph Hurdle for ten years until Our Conor in 2013. They have now won it seven times in ten seasons. The Triumph Hurdle betting suggests that trend is likely to continue as Willie Mullins is responsible for the first three in the ante-post market.

The Spring Juvenile Hurdle at Leopardstown has been the best trial for the Triumph Hurdle in recent seasons. Seven of the last twelve winners ran at Leopardstown prior to the Cheltenham Festival. Our Conor (2013), Quilixios (2021) and Vauban (2022) won both races. Gala Marceau won last year’s renewal, but the form between her and Lossiemouth from that day was reversed.

A bet on the Triumph Hurdle used to be a bit of a flutter with a large field guaranteed. The introduction of the Fred Winter Juvenile Hurdle has helped to reduce the entry here and it fell to just eight runners in 2021. There have been eight winning favourites in the past eight seasons but it can still provide the occasional shock result. Countrywide Flame sprang a 33-1 surprise in 2012 and Pentland Hills won at 20-1 in 2019.
