Glorious Goodwood Day 2 Tips
Glorious Goodwood is not only one of the sporting highlights of the British horse racing calendar, it is also a major social event and its presence attracts people from all walks of life. The meeting continues on Wednesday, 30th July 2025 with a competitive day 2 card that features the Group 1 Sussex Stakes, and our team has produced expert tips for all seven races on Glorious Goodwood Day 2.
Goodwood Day 2 Races On Wednesday
Glorious Goodwood’s day 2 card centres around the Sussex Stakes, a 1m Group 1 which is generally one of the most eagerly-anticipated races of the season thanks to it often being the first occasion that 3yo horses are tested against their elders. This year’s renewal of the race has attracted a stellar line-up as it so often does.
Race 1: Coral Handicap @ 13:50
The second day of Glorious Goodwood begins with the Coral Handicap, this 1m4f contest has a maximum field size of 14 runners and is open to 3yo horses.
Race 2: Whispering Angel Oak Tree Stakes @ 14:25
The first Group race contested on the second day of Glorious Goodwood 2025 is the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes. This race is run over a distance of 7f and is open to fillies and mares aged 3yo and older.
Race 3: Markel Molecomb Stakes @ 15:00
Glorious Goodwood showcases a number of informative juvenile contests throughout the week, with the Molecomb Stakes just one example of this. The Molecomb is a 5f Group 3 and its recent roll of honour includes the likes of Havana Grey and Liberty Beach, both horses that had been beaten in juvenile races at Royal Ascot prior. Bungle Inthejungle took this prize in 2012, and six years later, his son Rumble Inthejungle won the race.
Race 4: Qatar Sussex Stakes @ 15:35
The feature race on the second day of Glorious Goodwood is the Sussex Stakes, a 1m Group 1 which is often the first time that the 3yos take on their elders. Frankel is the only horse to have won the race more than once.
Race 5: British EBF 40th Anniversary Fillies’ Handicap Stakes @ 16:10
The penultimate race on day two is a 1m2f fillies handicap open to horses aged 3yo and older. Only one favourite has obliged during its short history, with four winners priced at double-figure odds.
Race 6: British EBF 40th Anniversary Alice Keppel Fillies’ Conditions Stakes @ 16:45
This 5f fillies conditions race is consigned to juveniles and doesn’t tend to attract a large field, with the last four renewals attracting field sizes of 7-6-7-10-11. Perhaps unsurprisingly, therefore, this has been a good race for punters, with all five renewals won by horses priced at 5/1 or shorter.
Race 7: World Pool Handicap Stakes @ 17:20
The second day of Glorious Goodwood concludes with a 0-95 7f handicap open to horses aged 3yo and older.
Goodwood Day 2 Betting Tips
The second day of Glorious Goodwood allows punters time to look back on the previous day’s action to see if there was a particular strip of ground riding quicker than another, and therefore if a draw bias has begun to develop. Track positioning can be important at Goodwood, particularly on races run around a bend, as the field tends to stick to the far rail and this can result in horses getting boxed in when trying to make a challenge.
