Best effort when winning this race 12 months ago on soft ground, but soundly beaten both completed starts since, including over an inadequate 2m on his reappearance at Tipperary; may well bounce back to form under more suitable conditions but he's rising ten and still 6lb higher than last year.

Lightly raced for his age; has a record of 3-11 under rules and took form to a new level when winning a valuable handicap hurdle at Haydock in November; Ascot Grade 1 was a bridge too far following that and hasn't been seen since falling at Sandown in February; not out of it but may come on for the run, check market.

About Shoot First

Shoot First is a bay gelding, bred in Ireland by Mrs D Cashman. He was sired by Westerner, out of the Old Vic mare Keeps Sake. Trained by Charles Bynes, he has amassed over £21,000 in earnings so far in his career.

Shoot First Career Form And Notable Achievements

Shoot First has only had seven races so far in his career, but he appears to be getting better with each run. A winner of two races so far, with the highlight being an impressive victory at Cheltenham in November 2022. He stayed on strongly to win that day in his Pertemps qualifier, and he was one of the ante-post market leaders for the Pertemps Final at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival, before a setback ruled him out of the race.
