Form: 533-67

W: 10st 2lb
Age: 4 yo Colt
He's tended to ply his trade in Group and Listed races and he was a Listed winner at Longchamp (7f, good to soft) last May; beaten just under 4l when seventh of 18 at York (1m, good) three weeks ago on his first handicap start and this is less competitive; could be in the mix.
Form: 585-49 CD
OR: 103
W: 10st 1lb
Age: 6 yo Gelding
Well beaten at Newmarket last month but he failed to settle and looked unsuited by the track; prior to that he was a promising fourth in the Lincoln at Doncaster (1m, good to soft) on his stable debut and there's mileage in his mark on his old form; has won over C&D and he's one to consider.

Al Mubhir uniform
Form: 3500-0 D
OR: 99
W: 9st 11lb
Age: 7 yo Colt
Listed win at Sandown in July 2024 and well treated on that form; however, he drew a blank during his 2025 Australian campaign and was soundly beaten on last month's stable debut in the Thirsk Hunt Cup; something to prove.
Form: 2111-7 D
OR: 96
W: 9st 8lb
Age: 4 yo Gelding
Made it 3-3 since being gelded (good to firm/good to soft) when winning by 3l at Haydock (1m) last October; reappeared with respectable seventh of 21 in the Lincoln at Doncaster (1m, good to soft) and this lightly raced 4yo could build on that latest effort today; firmly in calculations.
Form: 508-05 CD
OR: 92
W: 9st 4lb
Age: 6 yo Gelding
Ran well when fifth of 18 at York (1m, good) three weeks ago on his second start of the season; his four wins (one here) have come on soft going so slower ground today would aid his cause; could be a contender.
Form: 537-18 D
OR: 88
W: 9st 0lb
Age: 5 yo Filly
Front-runner who won five times last April-July (1m-1m1f) and improved again when making all at Musselburgh (1m, good) in April on her reappearance; well beaten at Redcar 11 days later when unpenalised and 8lb higher mark has now kicked in, but she's not written off; unproven on slow ground.

Form: 632-3
OR: 83
W: 8st 11lb
Age: 4 yo Colt
Went close in Newbury maiden (1m2f, good) last May on third and final outing for Gosdens and, having been detached early, he was a very promising third of 15 on his stable/handicap debut at York (1m2f, good) three weeks ago; well bred and could take a sizeable step forward from that latest effort.

Betting Forecast

13/2 Diego Ventura, 9/2 Botanical, 16/1 Al Mubhir, 7/4 Eternal Force, 6/1 Theoryofeverything, 16/1 Two B Tanned, 7/2 Altareq

Verdict

York third ALTAREQ is an intriguing contender on his second start for Jim Goldie and this very lightly raced 4yo earns the vote ahead of Eternal Force, who looked one to follow at the end of last season and could improve for his comeback run in the Lincoln. Things didn’t work out for Lincoln fourth Botanical at Newmarket subsequently and he is next on the list.[Ben Hutton]
