About Energumene

Energumene is a brown gelding who was bred in France by Christophe Dubourg. He was sired by Denham Red out of the April Night mare Olinight. Trained by Willie Mullins since moving from France and owned by Tony Bloom, his current earnings are over £1 million.

Energumene Career Form And Notable Achievements

Energumene has won 12 of his 15 career races to date, including an impressive six Grade 1 victories. He is a two-time winner at the Cheltenham Festival, winning the Champion Chase in 2022 and 2023. He has also won the Punchestown Champion Chase twice (2022 + 2023), with his other two Grade 1 wins coming in the Irish Arkle (2021) and the Ryanair Novice Chase (2021).

His two Champion Chase victories at Cheltenham are his greatest achievements, winning the 2022 renewal by 8½ lengths, before going one better and winning the 2023 running by an impressive 10 lengths.
