held up in last, not clear run over 2f out, some headway from over 1f out, went fourth inside final furlong, never dangerous (an inquiry was held into the running and riding; jockey stated his instructions were to get the gelding to settle in order to get him to finish his race having failed to beat a horse home in his previous two runs having run keenly; he explained gelding was awkward leaving the stalls and slow into stride as a result but he was happy to settle at the rear of the field although the gelding was still inclined to over race; he added that although settled by the end of the back straight he was denied a clear run rounding the final bend when gelding made a respiratory noise which meant he had to delay his challenge until he had gelding balanced in the home straight when it finished one paced passing beaten horses; he stated he would recommend to the trainer that the gelding might benefit from the application of a tongue strap and a step up in trip to a mile)
