Form: /00-32 D

W: 9st 12lb
Age: 6 yo Colt
Prominent racer; two good runs back from her eight-month absence, headed close home at Hamilton (5f, good to firm) two weeks ago; that form is working out well and he has earned the 2lb rise; bold bid expected.

Form: 03-685 D
OR: 88
W: 9st 10lb
Age: 5 yo Gelding
Of interest from a handicapping perspective, some 3lb lower than when a close third in last season's Portland at Doncaster (5.6f, good); not beaten far into fifth at Windsor 18 days ago; not easy to win with but likely to give a good account.
Form: 658612 CD
OR: 87
W: 9st 9lb
Age: 8 yo Gelding
Formerly high class; ended a long losing run at Sandown (5f, good) last month when visored for the first time; beaten at odds-on at Yarrmouth six days later; another 3lb higher today but not handicapped out of things.
Form: -52992 D
OR: 87
W: 9st 9lb
Age: 4 yo Gelding
Lightly raced 4yo; yet to win a handicap but he's finished runner-up on both turf and AW, with Sunday's close call at Southwell (5f, AW) representing improvement; ahead of the handicapper and holds obvious claims; stable also run Twilight Calls.

Form: /040-4
OR: 85
W: 9st 7lb
Age: 6 yo Colt
Better known for AW exploits and has had few chances on turf, running his best race in this sphere when fourth of eight at Newbury (6f, good to soft; stable debut after 223 days off) four weeks ago; potentially well treated and he's interesting with that run behind him.
Form: 341805 D
OR: 85
W: 9st 7lb
Age: 4 yo Gelding
In good form on AW earlier in the year, winning twice at Southwell (5f/6f); best effort since returned to turf came at Windsor (6f, good to firm) 13 days ago when a close fifth of ten; more required back up in class.
Form: -04645 CD
OR: 85
W: 9st 7lb
Age: 6 yo Gelding
C&D record reads 131, the defeat coming behind Emperor Spirit in this race last year; 5lb lower than for his last win and although he's yet to really shine this year, the booking of Oisin Murphy is notable; contender with cheekpieces now discarded.
Form: 529-34 D
OR: 88
W: 9st 5lb
Age: 3 yo Filly
Record is only 1-10 but she's fairly useful and has performed well in 5f contests (handicap/Listed) at Sandown this term; played up beforehand and withdrawn ahead of an intended engagement at York two weeks ago; Ryan Moore booked and she could do better yet.
Form: 30-202 CD
OR: 83
W: 9st 5lb
Age: 8 yo Gelding
He was having his first run for Michael Keady when winning the corresponding race 12 months ago off a 3lb higher mark; two good runs on fast ground this year (below par on slower going in the Epsom Dash) and likely to make another bold bid.
Form: 189-80
OR: 87
W: 9st 4lb
Age: 3 yo Colt
Won twice at Ayr (6f) in novice/maiden company either side of a heavy defeat in the Coventry Stakes; well beaten in two handicaps this year and sold out of Archie Watson's stable for 4,600gns last week; plenty to prove and stable have more obvious claims with Emperor Spirit.
Form: 454303 DBF
OR: 81
W: 9st 3lb
Age: 6 yo Gelding
Had a rare off day in the Dash but quickly back on track with a close third at Windsor (5f good to firm) 18 days ago; unlikely to be too far away off the same mark.
Form: 363915 D
OR: 78
W: 8st 9lb
Age: 3 yo Colt
His two wins have come in small-field affairs but he gave a good account of himself in the 3yo Dash at Epsom five weeks ago; effective on fast ground; others have more pressing claims.

Betting Forecast

7/1 Tatterstall, 8/1 Rosario, 8/1 Twilight Calls, 11/2 Rappers Delight, 25/1 Never Just A Dream, 66/1 Star Chorus, 11/2 Rocking Ends, 7/2 Our Cody, 5/1 Emperor Spirit, 66/1 Underwriter, 10/1 Rhythm N Hooves, 20/1 U S S Charleston

Verdict

A competitive renewal with several runners of interest. Tatterstall’s Hamilton second has already received some boosts and he should go well despite topweight, while Rapper’s Delight looks ahead of his mark, Rocking Ends has a fine C&D record and last year’s winner Emperor Spirit (second choice) arrives in top form and is 3lb lower than for his 2025 success. NEVER JUST A DREAM has a bit more to prove than some, on both trip and surface fronts, but he hasn’t been with Terry Kent long and his Newbury fourth was encouraging. There could well be a bigger effort to come from him on grass and he is on an extremely dangerous mark if that is the case.[Paul Smith]
