held up in rear, lost touch 8th (jockey said, regarding running and riding, that his instructions were to get gelding to settle and jump, take his time in the early stages of the race; he added his horse didn't travel well, didn't jump well, and after the fourth last felt he was out of the race before he ran on past tired horses after a couple of horses were hampered by the faller on the flat; he further added it was the horses first run in a long time and he isn't easy to train at home; trainer's rep said gelding is difficult to train which explains the absence from the track and expressed his satisfaction with the ride; vet said gelding was post race normal)
