Now 3lb lower than when winning the Becher Chase at Aintree in late 2022 but he's pulled up in his last four starts and the new cheekpieces had no real effect last time at Doncaster (travelled well but dropped out); stable form offers some hope for him turning things around but too risky.

Beat 21 rivals to win off today's mark over the big Aintree fences (3m2f, good to soft) last season but has been pulled up on his last three appearances and needs the first-time cheekpieces to prompt a revival here.

Pulled up in the Grand National in April and same story on reappearance at Wincanton four weeks ago; however, he may have needed that latest outing and is just 2lb higher than when winning this in good style 12 months ago (good to soft; has won on soft); has to be respected.

Only had seven runs over fences and he looks on a decent mark off just 4lb higher than when a decisive winner of last season's Becher Chase (3m2f, good to soft); that came after a respectable run over hurdles and there's the suspicion that the same Aintree race next month might be the priority; if sufficiently fit, he's entitled to be in the mix.
