Arrived here in much better form 12 months ago and in first-time cheekpieces he got the job done by a length at the expense of Cap Du Nord; later finished second in the Scottish Grand National when 2lb higher; no signs of any of that form this season but perhaps another change of headgear can work the oracle.

Heavy ground may excuse his poor efforts this term; creditable second in this race last year (soft; off 5lb lower) before winning a major 3m contest at Doncaster and finishing second in the 4m Scottish National; has the ability to take a serious hand.

Twice withdrawn in the past when the ground was heavy and couldn't cope with similar conditions when tailed off in the Grand Sefton on his return (Aintree's National fences); last season on ground from soft to good was a productive one, including his second in the Scottish National; would have been tempting but for heavy ground.

Twice withdrawn two seasons back when the ground was heavy, but probably acts on soft; broke a blood vessel in March three starts back; had a fine season otherwise and it might have been even better had he not been badly hampered (fell) four out when in contention in the C&D Topham in April; ended with second in the Scottish National; up another 3lb but one to note.
