Champion stayer of recent years attempts to win this for the third time in the last four years; unblemished record last season included wins at the highest level in Ascot and Goodwood Cups, Irish St Leger and Prix Du Cadran; reappeared for traditional Vintage Crop win at Navan last month and another straightforward task here en route to Ascot.

Acts on soft and a maiden winner on heavy; pipped by Trawlerman in this race in a very restricted campaign last year but swept all before him in 2022 and has now done the same in 2024; that includes two wins in the Gold Cup here, beating Trawlerman by a length this time round; looks the 2024 champion stayer (albeit not far clear on ratings) and going to the well once too often after his French triumph two weeks ago may be the danger.

The outstanding stayer of 2022 when unbeaten in six starts, including this race; second in his only two runs in 2023 but 3-3 this season and by far the most important of those was his classy and extremely game display last time to regain the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot; very much the one to beat.
