Pulled up in three of his last five appearances but he remains useful on his day, with his fourth in a Grade 3 2m1f handicap at Ascot in November reading well; however, his best form is over shorter than this and it was a very winnable race in which he made a successful hunter chase debut at Leicester (2m, soft); others appeal more over this far.

Capable chaser, as shown when making pleasing seasonal reappearance (fourth) in a Premier Handicap at Ascot in November; pulled up in both subsequent starts, so seemingly does have something to prove now switching to hunter chases; trip and ground are both fine; major contender.

Two chase wins in early 2023, over 2m (soft) and 2m3f (good to soft), and twice ran well in defeat during March; however, he's had two serious off days in his last three starts, apparently never travelling at Ascot three weeks ago, which leaves a question mark hanging over him.

No frills about his handicap mark after two chase wins (2m, soft/2m3f, good) at the start of 2023 but he ran a very solid race when fourth of eight finishers in a better race than this on his return in November; major player off 2lb lower.

J: Freddie Gingell

T: Paul Nicholls

Freddie Gingell's claim is welcomed as he twice came up just short off this mark in 2m4f/2m2f handicaps back in March before looking a tad frayed when disappointing the final time at Sandown; effective at this trip but stays well and likely to be ridden positively as usual; hard to discount for last year's winning connections.
