Second, ninth and ninth in the last three Chester Cups; today's mark is his lowest since 2017 and plenty of efforts last June-September give him a cracking chance, so the case can be made for him despite his latest three outings (one this term) and the lack of any win since Royal Ascot 2019.

Veteran stayer who is without a victory since 2019, but he wasn't disgraced when 12th in the Cesarewitch when last seen so can't be dismissed off a falling mark.

Has never run in the Cesarewitch but he's a familiar face contesting other major long-distance races, with a fine record at Royal Ascot; very well handicapped on peak ratings, with last month's Doncaster Cup (soft) one of those but recorded in a muddling race; tailed off behind Tashkhan latest and, with no win since 2019, does not look the percentage call.

Seemed to run his best race for a while when beaten just under 5l into fourth in the five-runner Doncaster Cup (2m2f, soft) 15 days ago; however, that was a muddling, steadily-run event and his proximity has resulted in his mark going back up by 4lb so he's now higher than when quite comfortably held in two handicap starts in August (beaten just under 6l when third at Ascot latter occasion).
