Dual course winner (2m), who sits 5lb below his last winning mark; finished a remote third to Conquer The Breeze here latest, so it's difficult to work out how he goes about making up such a deficit, even acknowledging more favourable terms.

Has a decent record here (231413) but usually needs a run under his belt to hit form after a break; this will be his first run of the year but his course record means he cannot be ignored.

All four wins have come on good ground, with his three chase victories coming at 2m1f/1m7f; ran pretty well at Hexham (1m7f, good to soft) last month but he has something to prove at this trip on slow ground.

All four wins have been on good ground, the latest over C&D in March; two fair runs since but he was disappointing when returned to 2m3f last time; drop back in trip should suit.

Career best when winning at Hexham (1m7f) in May, his third success over fences, all at about 2m; didn't match that despite finishing second next time but it was a solid return, back from a small break, when keeping on for fourth of seven at Market Rasen (2m1f, also good) 19 days ago; has weakened over this trip and beyond before but it looks worth exploring again.
