Summerghand

9st 1lb

J: Cieren Fallon

T: David O’Meara

Tremendously durable 10yo with 17 wins to his name, and a well-held run at York on Wednesday must be ignored as he was badly hampered after a furlong; had earlier shaped well at the Craven meeting here in April; capable of going close off this sort of mark, although today's trip is an unknown as he has done virtually all his racing at 6f.

Dead-heated in big field over C&D (good to firm) last August and now 8lb lower; also effective on good to soft; disappointing at Newmarket 11 days ago but before that he was an eyecatching fifth of 18 there (6f, good), when denied a clear run, and this 10yo is capable of playing a leading role.

J: Daniel Tudhope

T: David O’Meara

No sign of age dampening his enthusiasm this year, running well behind Chipstead at Lingfield in March and running a cracker over C&D 17 days ago when doing much the best of those held up and that despite having to wait for room at a crucial stage; more than capable off this mark provided those held up aren't at a marked disadvantage.

Fine turf strike-rate considering the company he keeps and has won two of the best 6f handicaps in his time; has twice run well at this meeting, going close in the 2019 running of this and winning a Group 3 in 2021, and no forlorn hope now 9lb lower than his latest turf run in October; acts on good to soft but suited by good or quicker.

8st 12lb

J: Ben Robinson

T: David O’Meara

Money-spinner for connections down the years and he gained the 17th success of his career when dead-heating with Albasheer at last season's Ebor meeting at York; meets that rival on 21lb better terms today and he showed he was no back number when finishing off well to split Chipstead and Batal Dubai at Lingfield four weeks ago; an end-to-end gallop in a big field is right up his street and he helps form a strong team for David O'Meara.
