Form: 42-090 D

W: 11st 2lb
Age: 4 yo Gelding
A fair 7f scorer for Charlie Clover in 2025; little show in a trio of runs in Meydan for Jane Chapple-Hyam early this year though; since changed hands for 10,000gns and he starts out for another new yard with more needed in first-timne cheekpieces.

Form: 4443-7 CD
OR: 79
W: 11st 1lb
Age: 6 yo Gelding
C&D scorer who made a promising return from a poor draw when seventh of 22 in 7f York handicap four weeks ago; figures on a handy-looking mark now and he's interesting.
Form: 338-31 D
OR: 78
W: 11st 0lb
Age: 5 yo Gelding
Readily landed 7f handicap at Newcastle (fourth success there) 24 days ago; can't be ruled out on a rare turf start despite a 5lb weights rise.
Form: 130112 DBF
OR: 77
W: 10st 13lb
Age: 4 yo Gelding
Is enjoying a fine season and he racked up a fifth victory at Redcar (7f) in May; posted another very good effort with second of ten in 7f Newcastle handicap 24 days ago so he's a likely player once more.
Form: 3109-0 CD
OR: 76
W: 10st 12lb
Age: 8 yo Gelding
Course specialist who also took this contest in 2023 (for Lucy Turner); off seven months and not seen to best effect (caught wide) when beating one here (6f) on his return last month; it would come as no surprise to see him play a prominent role now.
Form: 8-8805 CD
OR: 75
W: 10st 11lb
Age: 4 yo Gelding
Low-mileage 4yo who got back on track in first-time cheekpieces with fifth of ten in 1m Carlisle handicap 13 days ago; not out of things with headgear retained.
Form: 71496- CD
OR: 75
W: 10st 11lb
Age: 5 yo Filly
C&D scorer but she's not the most reliable of mares and came in last of six in 7f AW Lingfield handicap in December; not ruled out though if back on song after a break in a change of headgear.
8 (11)
Be Frank uniform
Form: 36545- D
OR: 73
W: 10st 9lb
Age: 6 yo Gelding
A fair and largely reliable 7f winner in 2025; has his first run for nine months here but he has won off a break so is no forlorn hope.
Form: 333304
OR: 71
W: 10st 7lb
Age: 4 yo Gelding
Winless since 2024 but largely in decent nick this season until tried visored when fourth of five at Lingfield (6f) 13 days ago; tongue strap/cheekpieces are refitted here and he's the sort to bounce back.
10 (7)
Hectic uniform
Form: -44407
OR: 69
W: 10st 5lb
Age: 6 yo Colt
Scored at Ripon (6f) last June but yet to hit top form this season, undergoing wind surgery before coming in seventh of ten in 6f Pontefract handicap four days ago; others appeal more.
Form: 23-884 D
OR: 68
W: 10st 4lb
Age: 9 yo Gelding
Winless since 2024 but he took a step back in the right direction with fourth of ten in 7f Doncaster handicap last month; needs considering off a 2lb lower mark with Eireann Cagney up.

Betting Forecast

10/1 Calyxoh, 10/1 Spirit Genie, 7/2 Kings School, 5/2 Lord Capulet, 8/1 Paws For Thought, 10/1 Moon Beginnings, 8/1 Kindest Nation, 20/1 Be Frank, 12/1 Mission Command, 33/1 Hectic, 11/1 Maxi Boy

Verdict

This is wide open. The thriving Lord Capulet seems sure to go very well once more, while 2023 winner Paws For Thought (second choice) could take a big step forward here. Maxi Boy also needs considering having hinted at a revival when fourth at Doncaster last time out, but C&D scorer SPIRIT GENIE caught the eye from a poor draw when seventh in a big-field York handicap on his return and can capitalise on a reduced mark now.
