Has shown ability and, given his wide trip, he probably ran even better than it looked when fourth of ten on handicap debut at Chester (1m2f, good) 13 days ago (winner followed up in a 0-100 handicap at Epsom on Derby Day); respected.
Form: 434-24

W: 9st 9lb
Age: 3 yo Colt
In the frame in his last six starts, but was disappointing when fourth of five at Ascot (1m2f, good to firm) last month; may not have appreciated the fast ground, but still has something to prove; blinkers given a go.
Form: 7-33
OR: 79
W: 9st 8lb
Age: 3 yo Colt
Third in two Nottingham novices since returning in April, though the drop to 1m didn't appear to suit him last time; better expected back up in trip for handicap debut.
Form: 536-16 DBF

W: 9st 7lb
Age: 3 yo Colt
Narrowly made a successful reappearance/handicap debut over C&D (good) early last month, but proved a disappointing favourite at York (1m2f, good) last time; needs to bounce back, but the return to Sandown may help.
Form: 5-66

W: 9st 7lb

Out of the frame in three starts over 7f-1m2f at Newbury; open to progress now handicapping but whether he wants this far is debatable.
Form: 732-5
OR: 78
W: 9st 7lb
Age: 3 yo Colt
Showed some fair form in three starts over 7f/1m as a 2yo, but comfortably held on handicap debut at York (1m2f, good) last month; may have needed the run after 248 days off, so too early to be giving up on him.
Form: 5741-9

W: 9st 6lb
Age: 3 yo Gelding
No show on last month's Windsor reappearance (1m, good to firm), but relished the conditions when winning a Pontefract nursery (1m, soft) in October; interesting if conditions remain testing with a run under his belt.

W: 9st 6lb
Age: 3 yo Gelding
Placed in his last three starts last season, the latest when beaten 5l into second of seven here (1m1f, good) in October; market useful now making his handicap debut after eight months off.

Form: 241-86

W: 9st 5lb
Age: 3 yo Colt
Consistent as a 2yo, winning a novice at Salisbury in October (7f, good), but having been gelded he has been held in two 1m handicaps since returning in April; more needed upped in trip, though Oisin Murphy is 1-1 on him.

Form: 4713-6

W: 9st 4lb
Age: 3 yo Colt
Narrowly made a successful nursery debut at Salisbury (7f, heavy) last September and ran well on similar ground at Doncaster (7f) the following month, but having been gelded he was well held on last month's Nottingham reappearance (1m, good to soft); blinkers given a go, but not certain to appreciate the longer trip.
Form: -73282
OR: 71
W: 9st 0lb
Age: 3 yo Colt
0-10, but came closest to winning when beaten half a length at Doncaster (1m2f, good to firm) a week ago (handles good to soft); 4lb well in, but meets some less exposed rivals.
Form: 5375
OR: 71
W: 9st 0lb
Age: 3 yo Colt
Some promise in his first two starts on the AW, but hasn't really progressed in two starts on turf; bred to be better than that and interesting to see how he copes in first-time blinkers having been gelded since last seen.
Form: 55-71 D
OR: 71
W: 9st 0lb
Age: 3 yo Colt
Improved for the switch to a handicap and the longer trip when winning by a neck at Newbury (1m2f, good) four weeks ago (third has won since); a player following a 2lb rise.

Betting Forecast

6/1 Bemersyde, 8/1 Devils Peak, 9/1 Qarreeb, 8/1 Bridge Of Eagles, 4/1 Tambora, 12/1 Plan C, 33/1 Ohara, 12/1 Edwin Hubble, 14/1 Akho Mezzna, 25/1 Chapter, 5/1 Dryburgh, 14/1 Al Maslool, 7/1 Brighton View

Verdict

Dryburgh is 4lb well in following his narrow defeat at Doncaster a week ago, but is now 0-10. Preference is for BEMERSYDE who ran even better than it looked at Chester 13 days ago and the form has since been handsomely franked by the winner. The return to this trip should suit Qarreeb and he makes the shortlist, alongside last month’s Newbury winner Brighton View and last autumn’s soft-ground nursery winner Ohara.[David Bellingham]
