Two wins on soft ground last term; found 1m an inadequate test at the Curragh on seasonal debut; much better when second at Cork (10.5f, good to yielding) and third of 20 at the Curragh (1m2f, good) on latest; should give his running but has a big ask at the weights here.
Form: 8/20-8
OR: 88
W: 9st 13lb
Age: 5 yo Gelding
Won on good ground at two in France; ran only twice for William Haggas in 2024; same last year for this stable, the best of those a second at Leopardstown on the first of two late-season handicap outings; out of his depth in 10.5f Listed at Naas on return; plenty to find.
Form: 48-747
OR: 100
W: 9st 13lb
Age: 4 yo Colt
Dundalk debut winner for Adrian Murray; showed improvement on second start for this yard when 6.5l behind Minnie Hauk in Curragh Group 2 (1m2f, good) last month; completely outclassed in Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh 19 days ago; this is a lot easier but unproven on soft; blinkers.

W: 9st 13lb
Age: 6 yo Gelding
Won this race in 2023 and 2024; good form early last season, recording back-to-back wins in Listed/Group 3 contests at the Curragh over 1m4f/1m2f on good; hasn't hit top stride yet this season but is top-rated here; he would prefer decent ground but has form on soft.
Form: 0722-2
OR: 77
W: 9st 10lb
Age: 4 yo Gelding
Seven-race maiden; five of those runs have been on the AW and arrives here off the back of three runner-up finishes; however, rated just 77 and will struggle against much superior rivals.

Betting Forecast

8/1 Iron Fist, 14/1 Terre De Vega, 7/2 Tiberius Thunder, 1/2 Trustyourinstinct, 25/1 Leopold The First

Verdict

Both Tiberius Thunder and TRUSTYOURINSTINCT would prefer good ground but the latter should have the class to get his head in front. He’s a dual winner of the race and is well in at the weights. It’s difficult to make much of a case for anything else but Iron Fist is best of the rest. [Adrian Wall]
